COVID-19 & Beyond: Arkansas Landlord-Tenant Law
On June 23, 2021, Kendall Lewellen and Jason Auer gave a virtual presentation, “COVID-19 and Beyond: Arkansas Landlord Tenant Law.” This presentation covers legal updates, an overview of the eviction process, relevant defenses, resources, and information about pro bono opportunities.
About the Presenters:
Kendall Lewellen is the Managing Attorney for the CALS Fort Smith and Russellville Offices and the Housing Group Practice Leader. She has worked at CALS for 6 and a half years. Kendall has a JD from the William H. Bowen School of Law and received the Dean’s Certificate of Public Service. She is a member of the Arkansas Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Sebastian Co. Bar Association, and is admitted to practice in the Eastern and Western District Courts of Arkansas.
Jason Auer is Legal Aid of Arkansas’s Fair Housing Project Director. Jason has been an attorney in Legal Aid’s housing division for 9 years. During that time, he has focused on litigation involving housing discrimination, civil rights, subsidized housing, eviction defense, and foreclosure defense. In his current position, Jason leads Arkansas’s only private fair housing program. Legal Aid’s Fair Housing Project represents complainants in enforcing meritorious claims of housing discrimination, engages community partners by providing education and outreach, and conducts fair housing investigations across Arkansas. Jason also serves as a faculty member for the National Fair Housing Training Academy where he helps develop and deliver fair housing training to advocates across the nation. Jason is a native of Nashville, Tennessee and a graduate of the University of Arkansas School of Law.
