Arkansas Access to Justice Announces New Executive Director

Abby Brenneman has been selected as Executive Director of the Arkansas Access to Justice Commission and Foundation, effective January 10, 2024. This transition follows Bates-Rogers’ departure as he assumes the position of Executive Director of the Colorado Legal Aid Foundation.

Brenneman steps into this new role having already accomplished a number of important projects in her capacity as Program Coordinator–a position she has held since 2021.

During her tenure as Program Coordinator, Brenneman focused on improvements to the Free Legal Answers website, boosting pro bono attorney involvement, developing user-friendly legal forms for self-representation, and coordinating monthly Continuing Legal Education courses and clinics.

Bates-Rogers spoke about Brenneman’s hiring, saying, “I am excited to welcome Abby as the next Executive Director of the Arkansas Access to Justice Commission and Foundation. Abby brings a heart for service to the job. I have seen firsthand how Abby treats all people with dignity and respect. She understands that the work of Access to Justice isn’t about lawyers or judges–it’s about the single mom facing eviction and the veteran struggling to find housing after years of being unhoused. I have full faith that Abby will lead with Arkansans like this in mind at all times. Arkansas is fortunate to have her as an advocate for low-income folks in the justice system.”
